PURPOSE
The Albuquerque Area Indian Health Service (AAIHS), Santa Fe Indian Health Center (SFIHC) has a requirement to provide Brand Name Electronic Formulary Service and Medication Dosing Information Software Subscription accessible to providers, nurses and pharmacists 24/7. The service is to give provider 5level medical information and drug dosing guidelines. Will also provide drug recall alerts, national drug short alerts, warnings for look-a-like sound-a-like, material safety data sheets, disease specific information, and pediatric drug dosing information, and produces patient medication information handouts. This will also meet the SFIHC accreditation compliance.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
In order to provide quality, efficient, and cost-effective health care to patients, the Santa Fe Indian Health Service needs a formulary model of health care. Information about the medication formulary including disease and dosing information is needed to be accessible to all providers, nurses, and pharmacists. A drug information software is needed to achieve these goals. These goals are also reflected in Service Unit Accreditation regulatory requirements.
