Project Description: The engineering services will include preliminary and final engineering design services, bidding services, services during construction, and public engagement for the proposed Project.
This project involves the 15” vitrified clay pipe (VCP) gravity sewer main within 200 East Street from 300 South to 500 South located in downtown Salt Lake City. This 15” main was installed in 1891 and has multiple issues, including fractures, deformations, and a broken section. Additionally, this main is a vital collector line for the downtown area, conveying substantial sewer flows to the Beck Street Trunkline. The MP30 - 200 East from 300 South to 500 South Upsizing Project Envisions upsizing the existing 15” sewer main to 24”. The upsize is required to support growth and development in the downtown area before SLC’s Green Loop Project. The consultant shall perform pre-design, including an alternatives analysis, final design, bidding, construction, and public engagement services. Design and construction risks associated with the Utah Transit Authority (UTA) Trax include:
• Open cut excavation may not be possible. Evaluate the possibility of using trenchless technology for the project.
• Trenchless bypass installation may also be required. Evaluate the possibility of installing a permanent bypass for future operations & maintenance.
• The crossing must be permitted.
