NACHC Health Center Executive
Mentor, Advisor, and Discussion Leader Application
The National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) is seeking experienced
health center executives to serve as mentors and executive advisors for NACHC’s
Leadership Exchange program and discussion leaders for NACHC’s Learning Groups.
About the NACHC Leadership Exchange
NACHC Leadership Exchanges (NLEs) are six-month, cohort-based professional
development programs designed to strengthen the leadership and technical skills of health
center executives. NACHC is currently seeking mentors and executive advisors for the
following NLEs:
Chief Executive Officer, Executive Director, or equivalent,
Chief Financial Officer,
Chief Human Resources/People/Workforce Officer or equivalent.
Chief Pharmacy Officer,
Chief Medical Officer.
Mentor Activities:
Mentors are assigned a group of 6-10 participants to discuss current challenges, answer
questions, and help participants plan a real-world capstone project. Mentors serve as
trusted advisors, providing guidance, support, and encouragement to help their peers grow
in their career and leadership journey. Duties include:
Participate in a one-hour mentor orientation virtually.
Travel to attend two in-person program events (three total days of programming).
Lead 6 monthly, 1.5-hour virtual meetings with a group of 6-10 participants to
answer questions, focus on relevant content (including core competencies), and
help participants plan their capstone project.
Communicate with participants on message boards or email on an ad hoc basis.
Participate in a final debriefing call and provide input on their overall experience and
recommendations for future program enhancements.
Mentors can also expect to receive an evaluation of their performance in the role and the
program overall.
Estimated Time Commitment:
The estimated commitment is approximately 35 hours over six months, plus any travel
time. The tentative schedule for NLEs is below (timing is subject to change):
NLE Chief Financial Officer: January 2027- July 2027
NLE Chief Executive Officer: February 2027-July 2027
NLE Chief Human Resources/Workforce Officer: February 2027-July 2027
NLE Chief Pharmacy Officer or equivalent: Timing to be determined
NLE Chief Medical Officer: Timing to be determined
Executive Advisor:
Additionally, NACHC is seeking an executive advisor for each NLE. The advisor will help
ensure that the program learning content is relevant and taught at the executive level.
Executive advisors may also be utilized for other NACHC training and technical assistance
programs requiring executive “in role” experience.
Executive Advisor Activities:
Executive Advisors will:
Advise NACHC NLE program staff on relevant topics for technical learning content
rooted in relevant core competencies, relevant evidence-based literature, and their
own executive experience.
Review drafted learning objectives for technical sessions.
Review learning content created by curriculum writers.
Attend and participate in planning meetings with NACHC staff and other
stakeholders as necessary.
Participate in final debriefing call and provide input on their overall experience and
recommendations for future program enhancements.
Advisors can also expect to receive evaluation results of the program.
Time Commitment:
The estimated commitment for Executive Advisors is approximately 40 hours over 10
months of program development for the NLE. Estimates will vary for other programs.
About the NACHC Learning Group Discussion Leaders
NACHC Learning Groups are six-month programs designed to create space for networking,
support, and shared learning. NACHC offers learning groups for various roles and core
health center functional areas (i.e., emergency management).
Learning Group discussion leaders are assigned a group of 6-10 participants to discuss
current challenges, successes, questions, and emerging real-world issues. Learning Group
discussion leaders serve as facilitators and trusted advisors, providing guidance, support,
and encouragement to help their peers grow in their career and leadership journey.
Learning Group Discussion Leader Activities:
Learning Group discussion leaders facilitate group discussion allowing peer groups to
discuss common issues, challenges and opportunities; they also serve as trusted advisors,
providing guidance, support, and encouragement. During the program, they will:
Participate in a one-hour virtual orientation.
Participate in 6 monthly, 75-minute virtual meetings, including facilitating a 60-65
minute breakout discussion with a group of 6-10 participants; the discussions will
focus on a common monthly topic identified during program registration and group-
specific challenges, opportunities, and issues.
Share trends, requests, and concerns with the NACHC lead staff member.
Participate in support calls and a final debriefing call, as well as provide input on
their overall experience and recommendations for future program enhancements.
Discussion leaders can also expect to receive an evaluation of their performance in the role
and the program overall.
Time Commitment:
The estimated commitment is approximately 12 hours over six months. No travel is
required for this engagement.
Learning groups are currently scheduled for the following (timing is subject to change):
Chief Executive Officers: December 2026 – May 2027
Chief Operating Officers: December 2026– May 2027
Emerging Human Resource Executives: December 2026 – May 2027
Chief Human Resources/Workforce Officer: December 2026 – May 2027
Compensation:
NACHC will provide a professional services fee and reimburse travel in alignment with its
policies.
Eligibility Requirements:
Applicants must have a minimum of 3 years of experience in the role associated
with their application at a health center (FQHC or Look-Alike). Over 5 years will be
given preference.
o If not currently in the role associated with their application at a health center,
it has been no more than 3 years since the applicant served at a health
center.
Applicants must have the support of their current or most recent health center
supervisor, or board in the case of CEOs, to serve in the program. NACHC will
conduct a reference check with the individual(s) provided as part of the application.
Applicants Will Be Assessed on the Following:
In addition to meeting the eligibility requirements above, applicants will be assessed on the
following:
Demonstrated thoughtfulness in approach to mentorship and facilitation.
Demonstrated success in the executive role.
NACHC will also conduct a limited background search – including conducting a search of
the US System for Award Management and internet search. NACHC will also look at,
Uniform Data System information for the applicant’s current health center or the center at
which they were most recently employed.

NACHC will review applications and notify applicants on a rolling basis, according to the
delivery of programs.
Applicants that are assessed as meeting the qualifications for the applied role(s) will
remain eligible for consideration for future programs through June 30, 2030 provided they
continue to meet the requirements (e.g., years in role), based on successful performance,
continued organizational need, annual background check, and the availability of funding.
