The proposed project (Columbia County PI 0021741) consists of widening an approximately 2.4-mile section of North Belair Road (CR 580) from two lanes to three lanes, extending from Evans to Locks Road to SR 28 (Fury's Ferry Road). To improve corridor-wide safety and operational efficiency, the project will feature one mainline travel lane in each direction, a continuous central turning lane, and select right-turn deceleration lanes designed to effectively separate turning movements from through traffic at high-volume side streets. A key component of this corridor modernization is the installation of a shared-use path, which will provide vital multimodal connectivity for cyclists and pedestrians between the Fury's Ferry Road (SR 28) corridor and Evans Town Center. The project scope also encompasses all associated infrastructure and safety upgrades at the CSX railroad crossing. The selected consultant will be responsible for delivering all project phases¿including concept development, field surveys/database establishment, environmental documentation, public involvement support, preliminary construction plans, subsurface utility engineering (SUE), active utility coordination and relocation management (GDOT Chapter 14 compliance), right-of-way plans, and final construction plans¿in strict accordance with current GDOT policies, guidelines, and the Plan Development Process (PDP).
