NOTICE TO BIDDERS

The Mayor and City Council of Cumberland, Maryland are soliciting bids for the project:

ENGINEERING SERVICES FOR
Braddock Road Water Main Replacement
CITY PROJECT NO. 2024-22-W

Completed bids shall be submitted to the City of Cumberland’s online solicitation website, until but not after 2:00 p.m., local time, on 12/18/2024.  Proposals will be virtually released at 2:00 p.m. on that date and available to view on the website.  Released bid information does not constitute any award has been made.

Project Description:

This project includes:

  • The development of construction alternatives to replace or rehabilitate the water system for the Braddock Road Water Main from Seneca Avenue to Highland Avenue, which consists of approximately:
    1. 4,000 LF of 8” Water Main
    2. 20 House Taps
    3. 3 Hydrants
    4. 4 Valves
  • Determine a minimum of three construction alternatives for the outlined system. One option must be a complete replacement of the existing pipe including determination of the proper size, type, and alignment of a new line.
    1. Alternatives shall consider the use of plastic or ductile iron pipe.
    2. Structural Lining and/or Slip Lining may be proposed.
  • Provide a cost estimate, basic site drawing, and timeline for each construction alternative.
  • Provide restoration recommendations for all areas
  • Identifying and obtaining any required permits on behalf of the City including but not limited to an NPDES permit and the development of a SWPPP.

A "Mandatory PREBID SESSION” for the purpose of answering or obtaining answers to questions of parties interested in performing the work, relative to construction details, will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on 12/4/2024 in the 3 rd Floor Engineering Conference Room of the Public Safety Building, 20 Bedford Street, Cumberland, MD.

The Mayor and City Council reserve the right to waive any technicalities and to reject any or all bids, and to accept any or all proposals which in their judgment is to the best interest of the City.
