The lime sludge residuals covered under this agreement are generated as a by-product of the municipal lime
softening water treatment process. Residuals are mechanically dewatered using vacuum filtration dewatering
technology and are typically produced at a solids concentration of approximately 42% - 45% solids by dry weight
and is then loaded on to a truck for removal.
An estimated 18,000 wet tons of solids are processed annually.
Annual production quantities may vary depending upon treatment plant production rates, source water quality,
operational demands, weather conditions, and process optimization activities.
Residual hauling operations will normally occur during designated operating hours established by the Water
Treatment Plant; however, the City reserves the right to modify schedules, extend hauling hours, require
weekend operations, or temporarily suspend hauling operations as necessary to accommodate plant operations
and emergency conditions. At no time is the Water Treatment Plant or its grounds to be used for permanent
storage of the Contractor’s equipment or for performing work not related to the removal and transportation of
lime sludge, without express permission of the City.
