The Executive Office of Aging & Independence (AGE) is launching the Family Caregiver Innovation Grant Program to support the economic security of unpaid family caregivers in Massachusetts. Funded through a $490,000 cooperative agreement awarded by the Administration for Community Living (ACL), this initiative aligns with the National Strategy to Support Family Caregivers, with a focus on increasing awareness (Goal 1), strengthening supports (Goal 3), and expanding data and evidence-based practices (Goal 5).

Massachusetts is home to over 780,000 unpaid caregivers who face significant financial, emotional, and health-related challenges. This grant program seeks to fund innovative, scalable, and sustainable solutions that address these challenges through partnerships between Family Caregiver Support Programs and cross-sector organizations such as employers, healthcare providers, academic institutions, and community-based organizations.

Applicants must apply jointly, with the Family Caregiver Support Program serving as the lead and fiscal agent. Proposed programs must address one of four focus areas:

Workplace Policies to support working caregivers

Technology to assist caregivers economically

Optimization of Existing or Past Programs for greater efficiency and impact

Upstream Prevention to proactively strengthen caregiver economic security

AGE expects to award 4 to 8 grants ranging from $50,000 to $150,000, totaling approximately $400,405. Award amounts may vary based on the quality, scope, and number of applications received.
