Summary:The Fairfax County Park Authority is seeking a contractor to conduct aerial Infrared drone deer density surveys
across 24 parks and 9,250 acres. The surveys will be flown within the Washington DC 30 mile and 15-mile Special
Flight Rules Area (SFRA). The flights will require FAA clearance to fly within G airspace and additional permission
and certificates to fly nighttime operations to properly perform infrared deer density survey data collection. Pilot’s
in Command must possess FAA Part 107 Drone Operation licenses and have experience conducting deer density
surveys. All uncrewed aerial systems must be certified with the FAA and all Temporary Flight Restrictions issued
by the FAA must be followed unless special permission is granted by the FAA. Contractor is responsible for
obtaining all approvals to fly drones legally in each park. The FCPA would like all parks flown at night, exceptions
may be granted for specific parks.
