Syscal Terra Resistivity and Induced Polarization System
Description:

Binghamton University intends to procure multi-channel geophysical equipment that allows for 20 simultaneous measurements and 3D mapping of the subsurface.

  • 20 channel resistivity/IP/SP operation with multi-electrode (48-120 electrode) configuration
  • Scalable
    • with other Syscal Terral units – can operate as one unit
    • compatible with Syscal Pro units
    • distributed operation – two, or more Terra units, can operate in sync with no physical connection between them, based on GPS clock (e.g. two systems on either side of a river)
    • extendable with external switching units up to 16000 electrodes
  • On-time IP acquisition mode
    • Reduce by two the total measurement time of your survey
    • Multiply by two the IP signal strength
  • Automatic recording of full waveform IP data
  • Automatically records the 20 channel voltage timeseries in background
  • Full decay curve (decay curve stored every 10ms)
  • Advanced receiver options
    • 20 channels galvanically isolated
    • 24 bit AD converter with 31 bit dynamic range allowing high quality measurements even with low signals (few mV)
    • Selectable filters:
      • low pass -10 Hz + Notch 50 Hz
      • low pass -10 Hz + Notch 60 Hz
      • low pass 256 Hz
      • low pass 512 Hz
  • Fully autonomous operation for monitoring
    • Operated by simple user generated scripts
    • Scripts can be updated remotely (internet connection required)
    • Automated data upload to FTP server / email address
  • Efficient battery charge management (extra module, embedded in the system)
  • Self testing for optimal performance
  • Firmware updates for life – easy update the Terra, with no need to ship unit back to the manufacturer
  • Removable Li-ion batteries
    • long lasting powerful batteries
    • easily removable for travel / replacement
  • 2GB easily accessible internal memory
    • extendable with usb connection
    • files download to a usb stick / WiFi / smartphone / laptop
    • WiFi connectivity
  • Color touch screen
    • clearly visualize data collection in real time
    • easy menu navigation, including intuitive survey creation
    • excellent for teaching in real time
  • GPS
    • internal GPS included
    • automatic handle of local and global coordinates to visualize profiles on Google Earth
  • Survey configuration ease of use
    • automated generation of standard arrays,
    • trivial generation of custom arrays to meet the specifics of each project (with use of any text editor and/or spreadsheet),
    • custom arrays can then be optimized for use
  • Dynamic operation mode
    • for land and river/marine continuous surveys [towable cable is needed]
  • Portability - the Syscal Terra has been designed with the field operator in mind, it is light weight (~ 14.7 kg) including the Rx/Tx internal batteries
  • Borehole operation (with borehole cables)
  • Field proof, safe to use under harsh conditions (including large operational temperature range: -20°C to 70°C)
  • Receiver or transmitter only use (for use with other resistivity / IP systems)
  • High current option (with external 1200W converter)
