Project Description: The goal of treatment is to conserve as much of the original Howitzer and carriage as possible and to restore the piece in general according to its original appearance, using new material to support or strengthen the original only as needed. Some sense of age is desirable. The PC shall be responsible for full restoration of the Object, including the installation of replacement parts as needed to convey an authentic sense of the original or to provide stability. Replica sections of the wheels and wheel hardware shall be constructed and combined as much as possible with the treated original sections to complete the wheels. If the condition of the original sections of wood is too weak to enable reuse, an entire replica wheel may be made and the original pieces kept and preserved. Any and all replica parts shall be full scale authentic reproductions of the 15cm heavy Field Howitzer pieces and shall be permanently marked as such.
