Solicitation Summary

The City of Gaithersburg has received a grant through the Maryland Historical Trust (MHT) to resurvey our existing historic resources and is now seeking a Consultant to complete this work. This project will specifically address the Chestnut/Meem locally designated historic district and the existing Maryland Inventory of Historic Properties (MIHP) form for the district (M: 21-178). The MIHP form was completed in 1995 and has not been updated since.

The Chestnut/Meem Historic District includes 34 resources, primarily residential, with 12 contributing and 22 non-contributing. The non-contributing resources were not individually documented and may now be contributing, as many of them were built around 1950 during the post-war housing boom and influenced the development of the neighborhood. An adjacent residential street, Floral Drive, was not included in the District, and consideration may be made to expand the boundaries to encompass those 11 properties.

The Consultant will be selected from the RFQ pool of applicants by a selection committee made up of City and MHT staff.
