PG6265176 - MD 223 (Piscataway Road) at Floral Park Road Intersection Improvements

This project, located in Prince George’s County, is for the construction of a single lane roundabout with two right turn bypass lanes at the intersection of MD 223 and Floral Park Road. The project will improve traffic capacity of the intersection. MD 223 is classified as an Urban Other Principal Arterial within the project limits and is a Geometric Improvements (Fund 76) project. It is listed on the National Highway System (NHS) as a MAP-21 NHS Principal arterial. The project limits are from the west leg of the intersection on MD 223 (Floral Park Road) MP 0.49 to the north leg of the intersection on MD 223 (Piscataway Road) MP 0.75 to the bridge with Structure #16052 Piscataway Creek, a distance of approximately 0.29 miles. The project also includes the south leg of the intersection on Piscataway Road and the east leg of the intersection on Floral Park Road. Note that the south leg and the east leg are not part of the State Road designation (MD 223). The posted speed limit is 30 MPH.

The work will consist of the following:

(a) Base-widening, pavement construction.
(b) WSSC water main relocation, Utility Patching
(c) Fine milling and resurfacing
(d) Pavement removal
(e) Construction of temporary pavement
(f) Concrete curb and gutter
(g) Asphalt multi-use path
(h) Installation of inlets, storm drainpipes, ditches, bio-swales, and micro-bioretention
(i) Pedestrian ramps and driveway entrances to meet SHA-ADA standards.
(j) Intersection lighting.
(k) Landscaping.
(k) Installing new signs and pavement markings.
(l) Installing interpretive panels provided by the Administration.
(m) Forest / tree clearing.
(n) Offsite tree planting as mitigation for forest impacts.
