Sand Dune 25/26 Timber Sale

The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Florida Forest Service is seeking sealed bids for the sale of timber. The Sand Dune 25/26 Timber Sale is a 950-acre initial thinning of mostly longleaf pine, with some slash pine and loblolly pine, on Blackwater River State Forest (SFI Certified Forest #NSF-SFI-FM-C0245755) in Santa Rosa County, Florida. The timber to be removed will be cut in 20-foot swaths leaving 40-foot swaths of uncut timber in between each cut. Swaths will be curved wherever possible to enhance aesthetics and reduce the look of a mechanical thinning. Leaning, forked, diseased, and defective timber is to be harvested from the 40-foot leave swaths. Trees with a diameter at breast height of 12.6 inches or more are not to be harvested. The Forester-in-Charge may also make adjustments to the cutting scheme as conditions warrant. For example, adjusting the operator select thinning in more dense leave swaths. Sale boundary areas are marked with double dots of orange paint or are defined by major roads. Estimated volumes for the sale are as follows: 14,211 tons of pine pulpwood, 2,955 tons of pine super pulpwood and 267 tons of pine chip-n-saw. This will be a twelve (12) month contract. Interested parties may obtain complete bid information by contacting Daniel Brethauer at (850) 957-5700.

The Florida Forest Service reserves the right to reject any and all bids and to waive any irregularity in bids received.
