Road Ecologist Design Services for “US Highway 36 Corridor, Safety For All”

The Boulder County Parks and Open Space (BCPOS) Department in collaboration with the Boulder County Community Planning and Permitting (CPP) Department is seeking proposals from qualified and experienced consultants to provide expertise in Roadway Ecology during the North Foothills Bikeway Preliminary Design Process (Bikeway). Currently, the Bikeway preliminary and subsequent final design process is commencing, with the objective of designing a new, hard-surfaced, multi-use bikeway within the US 36 corridor but separated from the highway, that can be maintained year-round. Boulder County is considering the US 36 corridor from the City of Boulder to the Town of Lyons as a Safety-for-All concept, which includes vehicles, bicyclists, pedestrians, and all types of wildlife. The objectives of incorporating Road Ecologist expertise are to mitigate or avoid impacts to wildlife movements, at both large and small scales, due to the eventual construction of the Bikeway. Additionally, the County is seeking expertise in facilitation of wildlife movement across the bikeway itself with recommended features and structures.
