MDVA intends to enter into agreement with Wolters Kluwer to purchase Lippencott annual materials. The required product is being deemed a sole source purchase because Lippencott is the current resource that all MN Nursing Homes and Adult Day Care currently use. This resource allows our nursing procedures to follow the industry standard of care that guide nursing practice standards. An on-line manual of resources that replaces multiple hard bound books per each home that require purchasing on an annual basis in each of the 8 MN State Veterans Homes and the Senior Leadership team.

Lippencott is a health care and residential care professional association/network that provides consultation, education, and resources to its members both on a state and national level.

Lippencott provides education in the format of web-conferences, journal articles and announcements. The benefits of the education opportunities are significant in staying up to date on current trends and regulatory requirements for health care in our geriatric population. The education is provided in a variety of topic areas – clinical, administrative, and regulatory. To make sound judgements and decisions regarding health care policies, procedures, and clinical care consultation with a reputable organization that provides accurate and timely information is critical.

All senior health care and residential programs are required to have evidence based best practices policies and procedures readily available to staff. The MN Veterans Homes have used hard Lippincott books that provide the above since being available to the homes.
