REQUEST FOR QUOTATIONS (RFQ)
FOR CONSTRUCTION OF A PUBLIC IMPROVEMENT
The City of Newton, Iowa is seeking competitive quotations for the construction of the public improvement hereafter described. Contractors qualified to perform the work and able to obtain the required performance bond are invited to submit competitive quotations.
1. Description of the Public Improvement Work to be Performed.
The public improvement work for which the city is seeking competitive quotations is generally described as follows:
2025-01 Hydrant Painting Project
: The project includes Sandblasting and Apply primer coat, finish coat, and clear coat to 100 Fire hydrants in the SE quadrant of Newton, Iowa
.
2. Plans and Specifications.
Plans and specifications for construction of said public improvement are included in this Request for Quotations packet.
3. Site Visit.
Interested contractors are further advised that a site visit may be arranged by contacting Brandon Schakel – Engineering Tech. at 641-792-6622, ext. 2318, or Water Distribution Superintendent Glenn Ratcliff at 641-792-3422, ext. 2701.
4. Time, Place and Manner for Filing Competitive Quotations.
a. Competitive quotations to construct the public improvement work described above shall be filed in the office of the City of Newton Utilities Director, 303 W 4th St N, Suite 501 - Newton, Iowa, on or before 11:00 am on March 5, 2025.
b. Competitive quotations shall be filed with the Utilities Director
by either:
(1) placing them in the United States Mail, appropriately stamped and addressed to the City of Newton Utilities Director, 303 W 4th St N, Suite 501 - Newton, IA 50208;
(2) filing them in person / in hand at the office of the Utilities Director at the address listed above;

c. Competitive quotations received after the time stated above will not be considered and the quoting contractor will be so notified.
