PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The Public Building Commission of Chicago (PBC) has invited all Contractors to bid on PBC Contract C1628, Works Progress Administration (“WPA”) Street Reconstruction (W. Bryn Mawr Ave./N. Knox Ave. and W. Bryn Mawr Ave. /N. Lawler Ave.).

The WPA Street Reconstruction (W. Bryn Mawr Ave./N. Knox Ave. and W. Bryn Mawr Ave. /N. Lawler Ave.) Project is located at:

  • W. Bryn Mawr Avenue from N. Knox Avenue to Dead End Chicago, IL
  • W. Bryn Mawr Avenue from N. Lawler Avenue – N. LaPorte Avenue to Edens Parkway Chicago, IL

The project consists of a Works Progress Administration (“WPA”) street reconstruction Project, including: full-depth pavement reconstruction of the two (2) locations indicated above. Work includes but is not limited to excavation, portland cement concrete base course, hot-mix asphalt surface course, sewer main, water main and drainage structures, concrete curb and gutter, concrete sidewalks, brick pavers (N. Knox Ave. only), tactile/detectable warning surface system for curb ramps, concrete driveways and alleys, roadway lighting, thermoplastic pavement marking, signs, topsoil, sodding, tree removal and planting.

Contractor will be required to prepare a Phasing and Logistics Plan within thirty (30) days of issuance of the Notice to Proceed (‘NTP’) for review and approval by CDOT and PBC, prior to the mobilization and commencement of any Work. The Contractor shall also be responsible for providing critical submittals, including electrical lighting (poles and luminaires), sewer and water main, and concrete mix design, as determined by the PBC, within thirty (30) days of issuance of the NTP. Project includes City of Chicago Department of Water Management (“DWM”) Lead Service Line Replacement Work, with two (2) service lines at W. Bryn Mawr Ave./N. Lawler Ave. CDOT B-5-253. DWM requires approximately two (2) days per location to perform the work. DWM’s work is anticipated to commence Q3-2025. Upon Contract Award of the new WPA Projects, a meeting will be scheduled to review and confirm any/all coordination items, including DWM’s planned work activities. Contractor to commence work on W. Bryn Mawr Ave./N. Knox Ave. first in their sequence of work and coordinate all site logistics with CDOT and the PBC.

BID OPENING:
