Description: The State University of New York at Stony Brook intends to make this Request for Information under its discretionary authority, pursuant to State Finance Law ยง163(6) and NYS Education Law Section 355(5)(a). The Request for Information ("RFI") is issued by the State University of New York at Stony Brook (hereinafter referred to as "SUNY") to obtain information for a Hospital/medical setting Virtual Reality software program. Stony Brook Medicine (a teaching hospital) and the Stony Brook University Health Science Schools would like to expand their training abilities to include a virtual reality (VR) software program that would provide interactive simulations to allow staff and students to practice and learn healthcare skills in a safe and controlled environment. The program should simulate various healthcare environments (inpatient, outpatient, emergency room, etc) and the equipment and supplies found in these areas. The software should be able to be used with or without a headset. The users should be able to interact with the virtual environment to select supplies and equipment using either a mouse or hands (if using VR headsets) to care for the patients and perform necessary assessments and/or procedures. The program should realistically portray healthcare providers (physicians, nurses, physician assistants, respiratory therapists, physical therapists, social workers, etc) as well as patients with different medical conditions. The software should allow the users to interact with patients and collaborate with each other as well as work independently. The program should provide for a few different simulation experiences occurring at the same time for different sets of users and be able to provide feedback to the users on performance. Ideally, the software program will offer interprofessional (IPE) scenarios and procedural skills training.
