Downtown Orlando must be a sustainable, highly connected, one-of-a-kind downtown that is brimming with opportunity for all. The physical characteristics of a Downtown are essential to this success and no quality is more important than a walkable environment and a place where people safely and then joyously engage in the civic life of the city.
Downtown Orlando is a place with regional significance with a destination that has large-scale cultural venues and strong regional access. Neighborhoods that have a unique identity and attract people for unique experiences. Clusters of people use Downtown on a daily, monthly, and annual basis to live, work, socialize, learn, and thrive – like the area around Lake Eola, along Pine Street, and Creative Village .
The DTO Action Plan is deploying a series of projects that will physically impact a person’s experience in Downtown Orlando. In the following studies, we have begun to envision the impacts that could be made to allow people to thrive, live, work, and connect. These visions have been advanced into more developed design solutions that embrace the big ideas and strategies of the DTO Action Plan.
