The sewer lateral is the pipe (Orangeburg) that connects the home’s plumbing system to the municipal sewer main, running from the basement of the house to the street. The replacement will ensure the system is free of leaks, blockages, and structural damage, ensuring compliance with local regulations and improving system reliability.

Project Preparation

Site Assessment

• Inspect and assess the current condition of the existing sewer lateral from the home's basement to the street.
• Identify potential issues (e.g., root intrusion, blockages, pipe deterioration).
• Conduct a survey to locate the exact path of the sewer lateral, taking note of any obstacles or obstructions.
• Verify utility locates to avoid damage to existing utilities such as water, gas, or electrical lines.

Permitting

• Obtain all necessary permits from the local government for sewer lateral replacement.
