General work description: The work to be done consists, in general, of temporary traffic control, application of high-friction surface treatment on existing asphalt roadways, roadway striping, and repair of guardrail.
The locations for high friction surface treatment are along Rawhide Road, Soulsbyville Road, and O’Byrnes Ferry Road, with bid additives along an additional section of O’Byrnes Ferry Road and on Springfield Road. According to the Federal Highway Administration, this treatment for rural 2-lane roads reduces injury risk by 48%, run-off-road accidents by 72%, and wet road accidents by 83%.
