The Communications and Signaling (COSI) Department seeks qualified vendors to provide repair and refurbishment services for WMATA¿s PowerWave/Kaval Bi-Directional Amplifiers (BDAs) and related equipment used in the Comprehensive Radio Communications System (CRCS) and Public Safety Radio Response System (PSRS). This contract includes two Base Years and one Option Year. WMATA currently operates approximately 1,605 BDAs: 568 for CRCS and 1,115 for PSRS. These BDAs are critical signal boosters ensuring reliable two-way radio communications in tunnels, parking garages, and other systemwide facilities, supporting WMATA¿s safety and operational goals. Services under this contract will include, but are not limited to: Refurbishment and testing of BDAs. Sub-assembly repair, testing, and re-tuning. Amplifier manufacturing for spare parts inventory. Reverse engineering and component-level repairs. Calibration to maintain optimal performance. This procurement aligns with WMATA¿s strategy of maintaining infrastructure and equipment systems in a state of good repair. Vendors are expected to extend the lifespan of existing equipment while ensuring system reliability and safety.
