Needed Service or Supply: Mosquito Lake State Park ADA Fishing Piers

Project Background: ODNR is looking to replace and install one possibly two ADA Fishing Piers, at Mosquito Lake State Park. The location of these fishing piers will be (1) Mosquito Lake State Park Causeway Northwest-end St Route 88. This pier is required to be completed. Pier (2) across from the Mosquito Lake State Park Office located at 1439 S ST Route 305, Cortland, Ohio 44410. This pier is an optional bid. (See maps below-site visit is required.)

This project involves the fabrication, delivery, and installation of a modular aluminum dock systems at Mosquito Lake State Park to provide accessible public waterfront access. The dock will include a gangway, main walkways, fishing extension, and substructure framing. Amenities included with the dock will include ADA handrails and fishing benches. Discussion of details can be covered at site visit. Measurements will need to be confirmed, etc.

Specifications/Scope of Work:

Contractor responsible to secure the area once construction commences through completion of work.

Contractor shall furnish all labor, materials, equipment, tools, and transportation necessary to:

• Fabricate modular dock sections using included design specifications.

• Construct a heavy-duty substructure using galvanized steel framing and pipe leg supports.

• Supply and install:

• (8) 4' x 20' dock frames. 4' x 12' aluminum gangway with piano-type hinge. ADA-compliant handrail receiver system.

• Support leg brackets with pipe legs. Fishing benches as detailed.

• Provide all required galvanized hardware and bolting systems.

• Ensure bolted and pinned dock-to-dock and dock-to-gangway connections per plan.

• Transport and deliver all dock components to Mosquito Lake State Park.

• Provide on-site installation and anchoring.

Contractor is responsible for removing existing old structures and debris.

Materials and Construction Standards

• All components must match dimensions specified in provided schematic.

• Components: All components unless otherwise noted will be galvanized steel.

• Dock Layout: The dock will consist of a 40’ x 8’ main walkway composed of four 20’ x 8’

sections, extending perpendicular to the shoreline. The deep end of the main walkway

will abut a 40’ x 8’ fishing extension, also composed of four 20’ x 8’ sections but oriented

parallel to shore.

• Frame Material and substructure construction: Fabricate modular galvanized steel dock

sections as described in the attached technical drawings. Dock sections will measure 4’

x 8’ x 12”. Sections will be constructed of frames of 2” x 2” x 3/16” angle. These frames

will be reinforced with cross pieces of 1.5” x 1.5” x 3/16” angle and a center deck support

of 2” x 2” x 3/16” angle. Half-inch round rod will provide additional side and bottom

reinforcement as pictured. All corner angle shall be mitered on 40 degree angles and

seam welded.

• Decking: Weardeck Reinforced Polymeric Decking in the color “saddle”. Decking will be

rated for ground contact and underwater installation. Decking will be covered by a 25-

year warranty for commercial applications. Weardeck decking will be composed of 5/4”

x 6” decking.

• Supports: Deck supports will consist of twelve 21’ posts of 3” schedule 40 pipe. Posts

will be secured in brackets. Brackets will be constructed 14” long x 4” diameter schedule

40 pipe, welded to 3/16” vertical reinforcement plates, and will secure deck supports with

set-screws.

• Gangway: Access to the dock will be provided by a 4’x12’ aluminum gangway. The

gangway will be hinged to the concrete abutment already in place on site and will rest on

top of the fishing dock. A hinged 4’ x 2’ transition plate on the dock side of the gangway

will facilitate ADA access. The gangway will incorporate an aluminum handrail (both

sides), grab handle, toe kick, and aluminum ribbed decking.

• Handrail: The handrail will be constructed of galvanized 1.9 pipe and galvanized allen-head pipe fittings. Handrails on the approach docks will be 42” high of uniform height.

Handrails on the fishing docks and at the deep end of the last approach dock will be

composed of alternating 34” and 42” high sections, allowing angler access. Dock

handrails will include an ADA toekick to conform to ADA requirements. Handrails on the

gangway will be 42” high and conform to ADA requirements.

• Benches: Benches will be bleacher-style without back rests, constructed of aluminum,

and will measure 12” x 8’.

• Hardware: 1/2" x 11/2" galvanized hex head bolts, flat washers, lock washers, and nuts.

• Fastening: All frames to be bolted at 24" maximum centers; pinned connections for finger

piers.

Completion/Delivery Date: No later than June 30, 2026. Work may commence starting April 1st, 2026 during daylight hours.
