Summary

The Town of Vienna is soliciting competitive bids from qualified contractors to provide collection, hauling and processing of food and organic waste and the cleaning of the storage bins.

Background

The Town of Vienna is a vibrant community with a population of 16,276 located 15 miles from that nation’s capital. Curbside solid waste services are provided through the Town of Vienna Department of Public Works to all 5,706 households. The Town of Vienna has a strategic goal to be an environmentally sustainable community and embraces its obligation to current and future generations.

As part of this sustainable goal, the Town of Vienna established a pilot composting drop-off program at the weekly Vienna Farmers Market operated at the Vienna Community Center. Despite limited drop-off hours from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Saturdays, the program was immediately popular and demonstrated demand for expanded service offerings for a permanent 24/7 community drop-off location.

This community drop-off site location will be at 431 Mill St NE, Vienna, VA 22180 adjacent to the existing Purple Box Glass Recycling bin.
