Description
The Regional District of North Okanagan (RDNO) owns and oversees operation of the Greater Vernon Diversion and Disposal Facility (GVDDF). The Yard and Garden Waste drop off area requires repairs to the driving and tipping pad surfaces resulting from years of customer use and equipment operation. The Yard and Garden Waste drop off area receives Yard and Garden Waste from commercial and residential customers. Accumulated material is “pushed up” on a regular basis using a wheel-loader. Accumulated material is processed periodically using an excavator and horizontal grinder and is relocated onsite at the GVDDF or loaded and shipped offsite. Traffic in the Yard and Garden Waste drop off area includes passenger vehicles, light trucks, tip trailers, heavy trucks, wheel loaders and rock trucks. The condition of the driving and tipping pad surfaces have deteriorated over the years and repairs including cut/fill, grading, and compaction is warranted.
The RDNO wishes to engage a suitably qualified Contractor to cut and fill identified areas on the driving and tipping pad surfaces using excavated material and processed Crushables(concrete/masonry/brick/countertops) available from an onsite stockpile. Repaired areas are to be capped with imported 75 mm (3 inch) minus product to a minimum thickness of 200 mm. For the purposes of this quotation, the pad size area is 4,400 m2. The existing driving and tipping pad surfaces are undulating with minimal fill remaining above bedrock. The Contractor should be aware that the repair will need to be completed in two (2) phases to avoid service disruptions to customers. Half of the area will be closed to customers for repairs. The repaired area will be reopened to customers and the other half closed to complete the required repairs.
