This solicitation is for the procurement propulsor demonstration hardware. The Advanced Propulsor Management Office (Code 808) in the Naval Architecture and Engineering Department (Department 80) of the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division (NSWCCD) is responsible for managing the Research and Development (R&D), design, testing, and delivery of US Navy submarine propulsors. The APMO requires the design and development for prototype propulsors, shafting and bearing components, mechanical design specification, and manufacturing plans to support the PEO SSN/SSBN submarine programs.
The objective of this procurement is to provide manufacturing design drawings, engineering, fabrication, inspection, and assembly of prototype propulsor, shafting and bearing components as well as the equipment needed to support propulsor Research & Development, testing and evaluation (RDT&E) for Department 80. These manufactured articles include scaled and full-scale hardware, as well as hardware suitable for at-sea demonstration. Additionally, this contract may be used to support vendor qualification of fleet hardware and may be utilized for production efforts outside of other propulsor production contracts, including but not limited to: lifting and handling fixtures, machining fixturing and tooling, shipping support hardware, and fasteners and other support hardware. The product and service code (PSC) for this procurement is predominantly PSC AC32, National Defense Research & Development Services. Applied Research–Defense Other: Services (Engineering Development). Additionally, APMO will use PSC 2010, Ship and Boat Propulsion Components and PSC H220, Equipment and Materials Testing- Ship, for propulsor and shafting prototypes and manufacturing efforts.
