RFP Contract for Removal of Wastewater Biosolids for the City of Newton

REQUEST FORO PROPOSAL

FOR A CONTRACT FOR REMOVAL OF WASTEWATER BIOSOLIDS FOR THE CITY OF NEWTON, IOWA

I.  INTRODUCTION

The City of Newton is seeking proposals from qualified firms to provide biosolids management services for the Newton Wastewater Treatment Plant located in Newton, IA.  The selected vendor will handle all aspects of biosolids management, including but not limited to transportation, treatment, beneficial reuse, disposal, and compliance with all federal, state and local regulations.

II.  BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Facility Overview:

The Newton Wastewater Treatment Plant serves 15,760 and processes approximately 2.9 million gallons of wastewater per day.

Current biosolids production: 800,000 to 1,000,000 gallons a year

Existing biosolids management practices: Land Application with city staff

Goals and Objectives:

The primary goal is to manage biosolids in an environmentally responsible, cost-effective and compliant manner, optimizing beneficial reuse when feasible.
