Capture and relocation of native fish species from an 85-acre waterbody (herein the “DMPF Pond”) within the Federally owned and maintained Delaware City Dredge Material Placement Facility (DMPF) to an approximately 28-acre pond (herein the “Relocation Pond”) within the Federally owned Chesapeake and Delaware (C&D) Canal Conservation Area. The Relocation Pond is located approximately five (5) miles west of the DMPF pond and both waterbodies have access via gravel roadways. The fish relocation effort is to be completed prior to the placement of dredged materials from the Delaware River, Philadelphia to Sea Federal navigation channel which is tentatively scheduled to begin in March of 2025.
A Delaware Scientific Collection Permit/Fish Stocking Permit is required from the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) Division of Fish and Wildlife (DFW) for the fish relocation effort and will be obtained prior to the work by the USACE, with technical assistance from the Contractor. Vehicular access may be restricted at the collection and relocation locations. The contractor shall coordinate in advance with USACE for access needs and dates.
