Sculpture Conservation Services

This Request for Proposals (RFP) is being released by the New York State Office of General Services (OGS) Division of Financial Administration on behalf of the OGS Curatorial and Visitor Services. OGS is seeking a qualified conservator to provide comprehensive maintenance, conservation and treatment of the art collection in the custody of OGS in Albany and other various locations within the state of New York. This collection includes a variety of sculptures.

This solicitation outlines the terms, conditions, and all applicable information required for submitting a proposal. Proposers should pay strict attention to Section 1.3 - Key Events to ensure compliance with the RFP requirements and to prevent possible disqualification.

The State considers the following qualifications to be a pre-requisite in order to be considered a qualified Proposer for purposes of the Solicitation. Proposers not meeting the qualifications below will be disqualified.

The following minimum requirements must be met by each Proposer:

1. The Proposer must maintain or have access to a secure, climate/humidity-controlled treatment facility within 300 miles of the City of Albany for the life of this contract.
2. Proposer must have been in the business of art conservation/treatment for a minimum of five years immediately preceding the issuance of this RFP.
3. Proposer must propose a Lead Conservator with a minimum of three years of experience in monumental sculpture and the proposed Lead Conservator must have a peer-reviewed membership in American Institute for Conservation.

There will be two mandatory site visits:

1. Empire State Plaza in Albany, NY, on June 2, 2025, at 10:00AM EST.

2. Binghamton State Office Building in Binghamton, NY, on June 3, 2025, at 10:00AM EST.
