Sealed bids for Great Road Intersection Improvements will be received by the Select Board of the
Town of Bedford (herein after, “Owner”) at the office of the Department of Public Works, 314
Great Road, Bedford, Massachusetts 01730 until November 19, 2025 at 10:00 a.m., and at that time
and place they will be opened and read aloud. The clock in the conference room of the Department
of Public Works shall be considered official. No faxed or email bids shall be accepted. No
conditional bids shall be accepted. No late bids shall be accepted. Any bid received after the time
for receipt established in this IFB will be returned unopened. If, at the time the proposals are due,
the Bedford DPW office is closed due to uncontrolled events, proposals will be accepted until 1:00
p.m. on the next day that the Bedford DPW is open.
The project includes improvements to the intersection of Great Road and Hillside Ave/Bacon Road,
as well as drainage system upgrades. Work to be performed includes traffic signal installation,
pavement striping, sidewalk and curb ramp installation, paving of a shared-use-path, laying of new
drainage pipe, and the installation of two subsurface infiltration basins.
MassDOT prequalification of contractors with the class of work as, Highway-Construction,
in the amount of $2,700,000.00 will be required for this project.

Bidders requesting Contract Documents by mail shall include a non-refundable check
payable to Owner in the amount of $20.00 per set to cover costs of handling and mailing.
Nothing shall compel Owner to award any contract pursuant to this Invitation to Bid.
Wage rates are subject to the prevailing wage rates as per M.G.L., c.149, §§26 to 27 G inclusive as
contained in the Project Manual.
