Alachua County is soliciting qualified solar vendors with demonstrated experience in the design and installation of grid connected solar photovoltaic systems for Alachua County Growth Management Building. This project is part of Alachua County's effort of the implementation of additional solar projects across County facilities, including rooftop systems, covered parking installations, and ground mounted arrays where feasible.
This project will be located at the County Support Building, 915 SE 5th Street, Gainesville, Florida. The proposed system consists of a 54 kilowatt solar PV array to be installed on approximately 3,600 square feet of existing south facing rooftop area. The system will be interconnected with the local utility grid and integrated into the building’s electrical infrastructure.
The selected vendor will be responsible for all aspects of system design, permitting, coordination with the utility provider, installation, testing, commissioning, and final interconnection. The County’s intent is to procure a complete, code compliant, and fully operational solar PV system that supports long term energy efficiency and sustainability goals.
This project is being funded by the Lydia B. Stokes Grant awarded to Alachua County.
Location: Alachua County is located in North Central Florida. The County government seat is situated in Gainesville. Gainesville is located 70 miles southwest of Jacksonville, 129 miles southeast of Tallahassee, 140 miles northeast of Tampa - St. Petersburg and 109 miles northwest of Orlando. Alachua County has a population of over 250,000 and a regional airport. The County itself consists of a total area of 969 square miles.
Form of Government: Alachua County is governed by a Board of five (5) elected County Commissioners and operates under the established County Manager Charter form of government.
