Description: This is not an Invitation for Bids (IFB) or a Request for Proposals (RFP). The City University of New York – College of Staten Island (“CSI” or “College”) is issuing this “Request for Information” (“RFI”) to learn more about the market for acquiring Counterfeit Bank Note Detector Equipment, and to determine what commercially available equipment can meet the College’s form/fit/function requirements. It is anticipated, but not guaranteed, that the College will use the information received from this RFI to develop a future procurement for this commodity. The attached RFI document provides an outline of the desired functionalities for this equipment. In particular, the College is interested in products that: (a) can recognize and record the serial number for each bill for added security and money tracking; (b) have CIS (contact image sensor) technology and array of sensors, to verify bills on against security features including ultraviolet ink, infrared ink, magnetic ink, metallic thread, image, size and thickness; and (c) any additional functionalities that can assist with the detection of smaller denomination bills that have been altered or defaced to appear as a larger value currency denomination. Respondents are requested to respond to all questions in each of the sections included in this RFI. A response does not bind or obligate the responder or CUNY to any agreement for the provision of the equipment referenced. No contracts will be awarded based on RFI submissions. Responding or not responding to this RFI does not preclude an interested party from participating on any future solicitations. Additionally, participating in a product demonstration will have no bearing on eligibility for a future solicitation. Please submit the RFI response and any questions regarding same via email to Benjamin.Rosenson@csi.cuny.edu and purchasing@csi.cuny.edu.
