Description
The Technical Point of Contact (TPOC) will mark all active burrows requiring treatment with a flag before work begins. The work will occur in earthen sections of the flood protection projects or dam. The Contractor shall use commercial-quality groundhog gas cartridges containing at least 53% sodium nitrate to exterminate inhabitants, following the manufacturer?s specifications. The Contractor must work in teams of at least two people to ensure all escape holes are monitored during treatment. After dropping a gas cartridge into a burrow, the Contractor shall immediately cover all openings to contain the gas. The Contractor shall fill all treated burrows with a slurry mixture of 90% earth and 10% bentonite, using a low-pressure pump to ensure no voids remain. The top six inches of each burrow shall be filled with topsoil, graded to match the surrounding elevation, seeded, and covered with straw or hay matting. The Contractor must submit Daily Quality Control Reports to the TPOC. All work will be inspected by the TPOC within one week of completion to ensure all flagged burrows have been treated as prescribed.
