ADDENDUM NO. ONE (1)

Hugh Taylor Birch State Park - Culvert 2 Rehab & Seawall

TO BIDDERS AND PLAN HOLDERS ON THE ABOVE REFERENCED PROJECT: PLEASE NOTE CONTENTS HEREIN AND INCLUDE, SIGNED, WITH YOUR BID SUBMISSION.

It will be required that this addendum be signed in acknowledgment of receipt and that it be included with your Bid when same is submitted to Alisha Sadler, Contracts Specialist, Bureau of Design and Construction, 3800 Commonwealth Blvd., MS #520, Tallahassee, Florida, 32399-3000. Failure to do so may be grounds for rejection of the Bid.

The following statements supersede & supplement the corresponding items in the specifications & drawings:

1. Question:  To minimize access issues to the park, due to the limited space, vehicular and foot traffic. Will the department entertain Trenchless CIPP lining (Fully structural designed) in lieu of the designed conventional excavation and replacement?  CIPP would cover all existing CMP?

Answer:  CIPP lining will not work since the existing culvert is potentially collapsed.

1. Question:  Will the department entertain Trenchless Slip Lining the existing 48” Metal pipe with 42” DR32.5 Solid wall HDPE?

Answer:  We don’t want to reduce the capacity of the existing culvert.

1. Question:  Are there any inspection reports of the interior of existing 48” metal pipe?

Answer:  Not that I am aware of.

1. Question:  Since conventional dig and replace is designed, does the department have any structural data of the existing seawall since it will be exposed with excavation?

Answer:  There are historic reports of the seawall and per the reports it has exceeded its life expectancy. Thus, the replacement does not go all the way to the existing seawall and does not expose the existing seawall.

1. Question:  Has an analysis of the existing seawall been conducted to assume load from water side during tide fluctuations when rear of wall is exposed for designed excavation?

Answer:  See the response to comment #4.

1. Question:  Plans show a connection detail from proposed 48” HDPE to Exiting 48” CMP, which we assume is original. What is the plan for future decay of the 48” CMP at this location at the rear of the seawall?

Answer:  Replacement of the existing 48” CMP through the wall will occur when the seawall, in the future, is repaired or replaced.

In all other respects, the contract documents of which this is an Addendum, and attachments relative thereto, shall remain in full force and effect.
