Project Description: A 2025 hazard mitigation plan places Metro Water’s finished water system as the first focus to improve
system resiliency. The finished water system includes the LCWTP, a conventional water treatment plant
constructed in 1960, and the Salt Lake Aqueduct (SLA), a mostly 69” diameter, mostly reinforced concrete
pipe built between 1939 and 1951 that conveys water some 42 miles from Deer Creek Reservoir to a
terminal reservoir near the mouth of Parley’s Canyon.
