Project Description: The WVIA is soliciting a qualified General Contractor for the construction of a new entrance canopy, patio, ramp, and stairs. Bids must be submitted electronically via PennBid no later than 4:00 p.m. on March 10, 2026, after which bids will be opened privately, but total Lump Sum amounts will be publicly available. Prospective bidders are requested to attend a non-mandatory prebid meeting and site walkthrough on February 24, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., at 100 WVIA Way, Pittston, PA 18640. The architect will respond to Bidders’ questions received until March 3, 2026.
This project consists of constructing a new canopy and patio at the front entrance with a ramp and stairs involving:
1. Demolishing the existing sidewalk and asphalt and excavating areas for new footings.
2. Providing new poured-in-place concrete footings for the canopy and providing new poured-in-place concrete stairs, ramp, and patio.
3. Providing a new canopy involving structural steel, a corrugated metal deck, gypsum roof boards, EPDM membrane, gutters, rain leaders, flashing, metal panels for soffit and fascia, decorative battens, fireproof marine plywood, blocking, lightweight steel framing, and lighting.
4. Providing a new canopy base involving granite, stone anchors, flashing and weep vents.
5. Providing new metal handrails for stairs and ramp.
6. Providing security planters, pipe bollards, a garden area, and landscaping.
The project is partially funded by the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP).
