SECTION I: OVERVIEW
A. Project Objective
Minneapolis Public Schools (MPS) is seeking proposals from organizations and individuals wishing
to provide Door Installation.
Minneapolis Public Schools or Special School District Number 1 (SSD #1) is a school district that is
coterminous with the City of Minneapolis, Minnesota. With authority granted by the state
legislature, the school board makes policy, selects the superintendent, and oversees the district's
budget, curriculum, personnel, and facilities. Students speak ninety different languages at home
and most school communications are printed in English, Hmong, Spanish, and Somali. The District
covers over 70 school programs at 65 sites, with approximately 29,900 students and 3,200
teaching staff.
The District intends to select one organization to provide the necessary Door Installation
services. To facilitate the submission and evaluation of proposals, this proposal provides
additional background information regarding MPS that will be relevant to the proposal.
RFP Primary Objective 1: Gain a thorough understanding of the product capability in order to
select, implement and operate door systems that will meet the needs of the district for the next
2 years or more.
• The vendor must be able to supply all necessary goods required to operate,
maintain, and sustain the full functionality of district doors. This includes, but is not
limited to:
• Complete door systems (interior, exterior, specialty, security-rated, ADA-compliant,
etc.)
• Door hardware and accessories, such as hinges, closers, locks, panic bars,
thresholds, seals, and electronic access components
• Replacement parts to support ongoing maintenance and long-term lifecycle needs
• Product documentation, including specifications, warranties, installation guides,
and maintenance requirements
• Availability guarantees, such as lead times, stocking commitments, and supply chain
continuity plans
RFP Primary Objective 2: Gain a thorough understanding of the door systems total proposed
costs. Including but not limited to: Services for Site Visits, Measurement, Installation, and
Support
• The vendor must be able to deliver comprehensive services related to the
assessment, installation, and ongoing support of doors and associated hardware.
Required services include:
• On-site evaluations to assess existing conditions, verify measurements, and identify
installation requirements
• Professional installation of doors, frames, hardware, and accessories in accordance
with industry standards, building codes, and district specifications
• Integration services for electronic access systems, security components, and
automated door solutions
• Project management, including scheduling, coordination with district staff, and
communication of progress or issues

• Post-installation support, such as adjustments, troubleshooting, and warranty
service
• Safety and compliance adherence, ensuring all work meets ADA, fire code, and local
regulatory requirements
• Vendors must demonstrate technical expertise, qualified personnel, and a proven
track record of successful installations in similar environments.
RFP Primary Objective 3: To select a vendor partner with a product strategy and product enhancement
delivery/implementation history that will meet the District’s needs (both for current use and future
additional functionality) throughout the life of the product.
• The district seeks to select a vendor with a strong product roadmap and a history of
delivering enhancements, updates, and long-term support. The selected vendor
must:
• Demonstrate a clear product strategy, including future development plans,
technology upgrades, and lifecycle management
• Provide evidence of past product enhancements, updates, or innovations that show
commitment to continuous improvement
• Offer scalable solutions that can adapt to evolving district needs, including
expansion, modernization, or integration with new technologies
• Ensure long-term support, including availability of parts, service continuity, and
compatibility with future system upgrades
• Commit to collaborative partnership, including regular communication,
performance reviews, and responsiveness to district feedback
• The goal is to secure a vendor capable of supporting both current operational needs
and future strategic initiatives throughout the life of the product.

C. Mandatory Intention to Submit Proposals
APPENDIX 1 (a) & Conflict of interest form APPENDIX 1 (b) are mandatory to submit. Failure to
submit both will result in automatic disqualification from the RFP Process.
In order for your organization to be considered for this Request for Proposal, please complete
Appendix 1 (a) Intention to Submit a Proposal and Appendix 1 (b) Conflict of Interest by
5/12/2026. These documents must be emailed to RFX@mpls.k12.mn.us. These documents are
mandatory documents.
D. Submission of Written Questions
All questions about the RFP shall be submitted by e-mail to RFX@mpls.k12.mn.us by end of day
5/12/2026. The District will provide written responses to questions from prospective Proposers
no later than 5/14/2026 EOD. After 5/12/2026, no questions or inquiries will be allowed.
