Overview
Summary

The purpose of this Request for Proposal is to identify and adopt a comprehensive digital curriculum for grades 6–12 to be used specifically for the Tucson Unified Virtual Academy (TUVA) and for all district Credit Recovery programs. The district is particularly interested in solutions that address high school credit recovery and first-time instruction courses for the TUSD Virtual School TUVA (Tucson Unified Virtual Academy) while ensuring compliance with Arizona’s Average Daily Membership (ADM) requirements. The chosen platform should engage students with multimedia-rich, interactive content while supporting a teacher-led, student-centered instructional model. All materials and assessments must align with Arizona State Standards, High School Accreditation process and other applicable academic guidelines including compliance with the NCAA for student Athletes.

Background

Tucson Unified School District (TUSD) is the largest school district in Southern Arizona, serving a diverse population of students across the city of Tucson. The district includes 17 K–8 schools, 11 middle schools, 15 high schools, and one K–12 virtual school - TUVA, with a total of approximately 21,372 students in grades 6–12. Among these students, nearly 2,300 are English Learners. Over 7,500 use our current Online curriculum. TUSD is also home to Two-Way Dual Language programs in three K–8 schools, two middle schools, and two high schools.

As a district, TUSD is recognized for its diversity and for providing more unique learning opportunities than any other district in the region. Multicultural education is a core value, and the district emphasizes equitable and rigorous instruction to ensure all students succeed.

TUSD has an extensive Credit Recovery Program at all High Schools during the school year and in the summer. The success of these programs is highly dependent on the quality of our online curriculum. We have committed to the quality of these programs by developing a Digital Learning Pathways Operational Manual. This manual is provided as an attachment for context.

In addition, the district operates a large comprehensive Virtual school, Tucson Unified Virtual Academy, TUVA, serving over 1,300 students. This curriculum will serve as the core curriculum for TUVA grades 6-12.
