Description
Alberta Infrastructure is working with Covenant Health , Alberta Health Services and Alberta Health to deliver the La Crete Maternity and Community Health Center (“MCHC”). The MCHC will be a new facility that will support the health needs of La Crete and surrounding area. The health services will include: three birthing rooms for low-risk deliveries, 24/7 Advanced Ambulatory Care Centre with addition of on-site IV infusions and blood transfusions, Emergency Medical Services Response facility with two door ambulance garage; two patient observation rooms; diagnostic imaging, ultrasound and medical laboratory services; addictions and mental health services; public health with expanded pre-natal and postpartum programming and lactation counseling; home care with rental equipment depot; an enclosed building link to the existing Continuing Care Centre (“CCC”); expanded surface parking facilities and other building operation support services.
The total size of the MCHC is approximately 4,015 BGSM, constructed as a single storey, fully sprinklered, noncombustible building with no basement and with roof top air handling units. It will be constructed on the vacant part of the same site as the current Health Centre and CCC. The new back-up generator electrical systems will service both the new MCHC and existing CCC. No major construction work or systems integration is identified for the existing CCC outside of the physical covered link connection, monitoring station, and back-up generator electrical system connections. Due to the location of this project, both virtual and in person construction meetings should be considered and appropriately scheduled with enough notification.
The project delivery method will be Design-Bid-Build (“DBB”) and will be required to achieve at least LEED v4 Silver certification.
