The Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) intends to enter a onetime agreement with Smart Moves LLC to purchase Smart Moves for Kids curriculum. This curriculum will help educate, and spread the word of evidence based, family centered childhood obesity intervention.
This has been deemed a single source as Smart Moves LLC is one of six CDC recognized Family Healthy Weight Programs (FHWP). A workgroup was formed to review and assess all six programs. It was determined that Smart Moves LLC was the best fit program for the identified priority populations. This program also offers specialized expertise in areas like cultural education and trauma-informed care which is woven throughout the curriculum. Smart Moves for Kids operates with a community-centric philosophy, collaborating with local tribal councils, Black community leaders, and grassroots organizations. This level of specialized focus and success is unmatched by other CDC-approved FHWPs, making Smart Moves for Kids the only choice with the expertise to make a lasting impact in Minnesota.
