BID OPENING DATE: Friday, February 24th, 2023

PROJECT # DDC 22091E

The bid for the above-referenced project was publicly opened on February 24th,

2023, at 10:00 AM. Present was John Adair – Director of Public Works, Keith

Andersen (Coastal Asphalt), and Diana King (Finance Director).

Director Adair gave last call at 10:00 AM and announced that two bids were

received. They are lump sum bids for the complete scope of work detailed in the

specifications.

Bid #1 – Coastal Asphalt

$521,738.37

Bid #2 – Palmetto Corp of Conway

$593,822.58

Director Adair advised all present that the bids would be examined for

adherence to specifications, responsiveness and responsibility, and that the

town reserved the right to accept or reject any bid in the best interests of the

town. The bidders were thanked for their participation, and the bid was

declared closed at 10:04 AM.

At the March 14th, 2023 regular council meeting, Council voted to hold the

apparent low bid irresponsible, and to award the resurfacing contract to Palmetto

Corp. of Conway.
