Bidders are hereby notified that this Addendum shall be made a part of the documents. The intent is to add to, modify, or
clarify the documents. Should any of these items have an effect on price, such changes shall be included in the price bid.
These items have the same force and effect as if contained in the original.
ITEM 1:
QUESTION/ANSWER
Q1. Pay item 457-70-99 Pile Jacket Repairs is listed as 1 LS. Given we don’t know how many jackets, how long the
jackets are, the existing conditions, please clarify the intent of this line item? Is it only to perform a survey and
documentation?
A1. Correct, this pay items covers inspection, design of potential repairs, and labor/materials for potential repairs.
Q2. Scope of Work #16 calls out 64 total pile clusters replacing wire rope. Plan shows (40) 2-pile clusters, and (24)
3-pile clusters. Is this correct?
A2. Correct, 32 clusters per fender.
Q3. Can we get the 2005 rehab plans for the Grid Deck Repair called out in plans? Also, the 2018 As-Builts and latest
Inspection report identifying Girder/Span location identification.
A3. This information is provided in Addenda #2.
Q4. How long are the 8”x8” spacer blocks for the wales? Plans do not call out length.
A4. The spacer blocks shall be 1’-0” in length to match existing plans.
Q5. Can we get the called out 2024 Underwater Inspection Report to verify locations of backfill leakage requiring
repairs with Flowable Fill?
A5. This information is provided in Addenda #2.
Q6. Can you verify the length of the securement bolts for the 3rd and the top row of wales shown in Section A-A on
Sheet B1-21 due to possible replacement specified in Scope of Work #16?
A6. Contractor shall ensure the bolts pass through existing/proposed waler beam/blocking and through existing piles as
shown. Estimated length for top row bolt is 25” (10” waler + 10” pile + 3” blocking behind pile + cover). Estimated length for 3rd
row bolt is 32” (10” waler + 10” pile + 10” waler + cover).
Q7. Splice plates for wales, nothing is specified or called out in the plans regarding replacement. If we are replacing,
are we to use the FDOT Standard Splice Plate from Standard Plans 471-030, pg 5 of 7?
A7. Intent is to match existing condition, which does not include splice plates.
Q8. The detail drawings of the pile clusters in this project significantly differ from the standard FDOT plans 471-030. Do
we base off the detail drawings in the plans or from FDOT standards?
A8. The intention is to repair the fender system components in kind. See Note 7C on sheet B1-04 of plans. Use details and
notes provided in plans for repair.
Q9. The plans call for 7/8” SS bolts, whereas FDOT 471-030 specs 1’ threaded rod, washers, and locking nuts. Do we
go with plans spec call-out for sizing, or FDOT?
A9. The intention is to repair the fender system components in kind. See Note 7C on sheet B1-04 of plans and Repair Note 4
on sheet B1-20. Use details and notes provided in plans for repair.
Q10. Anchor bolts are called out in Pay Items but are only mentioned in plans in the use of GWWF. Is this the only
place utilizing the anchor bolts?
A10. No, anchor bolts are also to be utilized in the replacement of existing, corroded anchor bolts at movable bearings in
flanking and approach spans, refer to Scope Items 18C and 19C on sheet B1-10 of the Plans.
