Event Description

Presently, the South Dakota Department of Health’s (SD DOH) disseminates data through multiple channels, each catering to specific audiences and purposes. While this multi-channel approach allows for specificity in topic coverage, it also leads to fragmentation. With fragmentation, the interconnection between these channels and the data they include is not intuitive, making it challenging for users to access and interpret DOH data comprehensively.

The proposed project, DOH Data Atlas, aims to continue modernization of the SD DOH information systems by developing a centralized, cloud-based data visualization and distribution platform for immunization and other health or health informing data. This platform is intended to enhance the sharing and accessibility of data across various stakeholders, internal and external, while ensuring data integrity, security, and compliance with relevant privacy regulations. By utilizing existing centralized data sources and ensuring a unified and secure access point, the Data Atlas will support public health initiatives, facilitate data-driven decision-making, and promote health equity throughout South Dakota.

The SD DOH is seeking a vendor to provide a platform that integrates datasets from multiple sources into a cohesive data platform, ensuring simplified data management, enhanced user experience, and compliance with regulatory standards. The Data Atlas aims to leverage these integration efforts to improve data quality, reduce silos, and advance analytic capabilities.
