Summary

Pierce County is seeking a consultant to assist with reviewing building plans, specifications, and engineering data for compliance with applicable ordinances and state building codes. Consultants that submit proposals acknowledge and agree that they will be reimbursed at 50% of the County’s current fee schedule for plan review work.

Pierce County (the county) is located on southern Puget Sound, covers 1,679 square miles (excluding water and federal land), and has an estimated population of 872,220 (2018). The county seat and largest city is Tacoma, located approximately 23 miles from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.

Population in the unincorporated areas of the county is estimated at 409,020 (2018). The Joint Base Lewis–McChord (JBLM) military installment is located in Pierce County which houses an additional population. Population in the Seattle-Tacoma-Bellevue metropolitan statistical area is estimated to be 3,939,363 (2018).
