Project Summary
The Busy Bee Grouting project will address ongoing coal mine subsidence in the Grace Athletics Complex western parking lot. A subsurface investigation of the site, completed in February 2025, revealed the presence of open mine workings and relatively thin overburden and the occurrence of rubblized/collapsed ground.
The project work will include drilling and casing approximately seventeen-hundred and fifty (1,750) linear feet of borings between sixty-five (65) feet and seventy-five (75) feet in depth. The project work will include the installation of approximately twelve hundred (1,200) cubic yards of a low mobility grout designed to fill existing mine voids and compact rubblized and/or collapsed overburden.
