Description

SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory is operated by Stanford University for the Department of Energy. As a management and operating contractor, subcontracts awarded by the Laboratory are not Federal procurements, and are not directly subject to the Federal Acquisition Regulations in 48 CFR. Nonetheless, certain Federal laws, Executive Orders, and regulations may affect our DOE approved purchasing system, as required by statute, regulation, or contract terms and conditions.

Water cooled condensing unit = Qty 1

Specifications:

SLAC is in the process of building a cooling plant for research and needs a refrigeration condensing unit based on a vapor compression cycle, using refrigerants with the ASHRAE refrigeration classification of A1 (low toxicity and nonflammability) and not listed at the Section 95374 - List of Prohibited Substances in CA. As example, R448A is an acceptable refrigerant.

When at full capacity, the condensing unit shall give a cooling capacity of minimum 4000 W with evaporator temperature at -40oC.

The condenser of the refrigeration circuit shall be cooled by water with an inlet temperature at 17oC (63 F).

The system shall equip with an R448a evaporator made by a compact brazed plate heat exchanger that condenses gas carbon dioxide running in counterflow. The MAWP shall be 80 bar. Example SWEP B18 with 34 plates, or similar.

The refrigeration condensing unit shall use an expansion valve with adjustable cooling temperature between -40oC and +10oC. The use of cylinder unloader and/or VFD to adjust the cooling capacity is preferred.

The system weight shall be less than 1200 lbs.

The power supply of the condensing unit shall be 460v/3ph/60hz.

The dimension of the unit shall be not larger than 48”x45”x62”

Technical evaluation criteria:

  1. Dimensions not larger than 48”x45”x62”

  2. Refrigeration Capacity not less than 4kW at -40oC

  3. Adjustable Evaporation temperature -40 oC,+10 oC

  4. Water cool condenser, inlet 63oF

  5. Vapor compression cycle, no intermediate fluid

  6. High Pressure rated (MAWP 80bar) CO2 condenser

  7. Weight of the unit less than 1200 lbs
