Project Description: Davis County, a body corporate and politic of the State of Utah (the “County”) owns and maintains 17 different facilities and campuses with landscaping at various locations within the County boundaries.
The County desires the assistance of a landscape professional service provider or a combination of providers (the “Vendor”), that include but are not limited to the following specialties: horticulturist, landscape architect, landscape maintenance contractors, irrigation installation and maintenance contractors, arborist, and other Vendors experienced in designing, analyzing existing conditions, construction, growing and maintaining landscaping, xeriscaping planting, and trees in Northern Utah’s climate and environment. The County is specifically looking for Vendors with experience analyzing existing landscape planting to understand the survivability factors and then creating a new or redesigned landscape plan with sustainable, low maintenance, drought tolerant plantings and also recommending maintenance practices and care taking for each individual planting.
The County needs assistance addressing the following four items throughout the 17 different campuses' landscapes (“the Project”):
1. Analyze the existing landscape plantings for areas that are struggling and/or thriving and identify why and how the different environmental factors and maintenance practices may affect the sustainability, health, and survivability of the plantings and trees in each campus.
2. Create a deliverable for each of the 17 different campuses recommending the replacement of existing struggling plantings, trees, irrigation systems/water needs, maintenance practices, and/or other environmental changes that are needed, along with rough order cost estimates for the replacements and changes to the existing landscape.
3. Create a deliverable in the form of a Davis County Facilities Management Plantings and Tree Standards, which would include a limited list of recommended sustainable plantings for use on all new construction projects and relandscaping projects.
4. Provide a deliverable in the form of a best maintenance practices and care taking guide (“Caretaking Guide”) for existing planting and new planting on the new approved standards list (from Item #3), including but not limited to pruning, trimming, fertilization, water needs, shade and sunlight needs, pest and bug control, weed control, replacement practices, soil conditions and other care taking needs of the plantings at each campus.
