Title: Project Manager - Defensible Space on Private Property
Addenda: 0
Release Date: 2/23/2026
Due Date: 3/16/2026
Tuolumne County (“County”) is soliciting proposals from qualified individuals or firms to provide professional services as a Project Manager (PM) in the implementation of defensible space activities on private property funded through the Community Wildfire Defense Grant (CWDG) grant program.
Under the general oversight and direction of County Administration Office (CAO) staff, the PM will serve as the day-to-day, field-based program lead, responsible for coordinating property assessments, developing parcel-specific scopes of work, directing contractors who perform the defensible space work, performing quality control inspections, and serving as the primary point of contact for participating property owners and contractors on behalf of the County.
The County has been awarded federal funding to reduce wildfire risk in high-hazard Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) communities by implementing defensible space treatments consistent with California Public Resources Code (PRC) 4291 on private parcels. The project focuses on residential properties located in Cedar Ridge, Yankee Hill/Columbia, and Mi-Wuk Village within Tuolumne County.
The County anticipates implementation activities on up to 1,290 residential properties, totaling approximately 2,723 acres, over the remaining grant performance period.
The County seeks a dedicated Project Manager to provide continuity, consistency, and on-the-ground leadership for this effort. The PM may be an individual or part of a professional services company; however, the County expects one primary PM point of contact assigned to this role rather than a rotating team.
Due to the size and geographic distribution of the project, the County reserves the right to award contracts to more than one qualified proposer, if determined to be in the best interest of the County. In such event, project areas, workload, or responsibilities may be divided to ensure timely and effective implementation.
This project is funded through a Community Wildfire Defense Grant awarded by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Forest Service. All services performed under this solicitation are subject to applicable federal award requirements and conditions.
