The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) intends to enter into an agreement with Riegl USA, Inc. to purchase one (1) Riegl VZ-600i scanner. The Riegl VZ-600i scanner is a laser scanner used for surveying and is capable of capturing highly accurate 3D data.
MnDOT owns ten network licenses for the software used to process the data gathered by the Riegl scanners, as well as two Riegl scanners. The software works solely with Riegl scanners. It is important that MnDOT maintains consistency between scanners to continue workflows and meet customers’ needs. At times, there are two scanners on the same project, and it is important that the scanners are consistent for efficiency and compatibility.
MnDOT determined that the Riegl VZ-600i scanner is the only commercially reasonably available commodity product that meets its business needs. This is deemed a single source purchase because the Riegl VZ-600i scanner is solely distributed and supported by Riegl USA, Inc. and is not available from other third parties.
