Asbestos Abatement – Building 801, VA Augusta Health Care System

Amendment 002 Project 509-26-120 Asbestos Abatement – Building 801 Rooms: 6B-102, 6B-103, 6B-104, 5B-102, and 5B-103

Purpose:

This amendment publishes the Government’s responses to vendor Requests for Information (RFIs). No other changes are made to the solicitation at this time.

RFIs AND RESPONSES:

The following RFIs were submitted by vendors. The Government’s responses are provided below.

1. Will the project be done in Phases or will we have access to the entire area at once? The project may be carried out in incremental or informal phases. For example, abatement could be completed on the 5th floor and, at a separate time, on the 6th floor.


2. What is the government estimate range for this project? Magnitude of Construction Between $25,000 and $100,000


3. Who will disconnect the sinks? The VA Engineering Shops


4. Are we capping sink lines back in the wall? VA Engineering Shops will perform this task.


5. Will we be required to replace ceiling tile and grid when we remove the exhaust hoods? VA will provide the replacement ceiling tiles


6. Are there windows to allow us to Exhaust outside during abatement? Yes, the COR will work with the contractor to coordinate with other departments to schedule any temporary closures for access to these windows.


7. What type of flooring materials are you providing (LVT, CPT, Tile, ETC) LVT


8. Are we assuming the substrate does not require any repair? yes


9. Are all of the wall gypsum board mounted onto a steel stud wall? yes


10. Is there fire detection equipment in the exhaust hoods that will need to be disarmed and removed prior to demolition. If so, will the VA take care of this? No, there is no fire detection equipment in the exhaust hood and all utilities shutdowns, termination/ disconnection (e.g. power, med gases, etc.) will be performed by the VA


11. Are we removing countertops and cabinets? If so, can you give a linear foot of amount of cabinets and countertops to be removed. Yes, the Clean Demo (without asbestos) will include both Wall and base cabinets and countertops. The following are the approximate Linear footage of each: 5B 102: ±21 LF Wall Cabinets / ±51 LF Base Cabinets / ± 51 LF Countertops 5B 103: ± 9 LF Wall Cabinets/ ± 9 LF Base Cabinets / ± 9 LF Countertops 6B 102: ± 9 LF Wall Cabinets/ ± 12 LF Base Cabinets / ± 16 LF Countertops 6B 103: ± 10 LF Wall Cabinets/ ± 10 LF Countertops 6B 104: None


12. How many drying racks are being removed from the wall? 1 Beaker drying rack located in Rm #6B 102


13. How many exhaust hoods are being removed? 1 exhaust hood in Rm #6B 102
